SORRRY for the late post...it's being posted a day later than what I planned. This is about my first day in KOREA!
So...Monique and I woke up early and decided to go out to eat our first meal in Korea and this is where we went! It was a place near our hostel...Hong Guesthouse... and it was pretty interesting.
I had trouble communicating with the ahjumma (owner serving us). She was ssssssuupppper nice and patient but it WAS SO HARD to tell her that I am a vegetarian... I tried telling her no meat...haha and in the end when I got my food...THERE WAS NO MEAT!! :] so I guess I was successful :]
but one thing to keep in mind....learn the word: vegetarian...or no meat...
Here are some pictures near the area we ate at.
We headed off to Yonsei University to check into our dorm rooms. There wasn't really a line when we went so we got in pretty fast. There is the International house and SK Global House. I am in the former...it's renovated from before and looks a lot better than how it was before. This is how it looks NOW :
After done with unpacking...
View from outside...
(these ones are from my friend's room because it's a nicer view)
After settling down, we found out we needed adaptors for our room so we went down to the campus's convenience store.
On the way, I saw this building...I think it might be a chapel or something.
and other things...
My sister told me to try the banana milk when I'm in Korea. So when I saw it in the campus's convenience store, I bought it and tried it...it's pretty good....it tastes like the Asian grass jelly drink that's banana flavored (for those of you who know what I'm talking about...)...pretty delish!
Our school even makes milk too!
They both cost less than a US dollar too! Probably 70-something cents?
We went out and into Sinchon to explore. This place is next to the university. I came across a foodstand that sold a food called ddokboki. It is a flour based noodle that is covered in red pepper paste sauce that was pretty delicious.
This is it:
Here are some views when we were roaming...
For dinner, Monique and I were invited by our friend Connie to go eat at this restaurant that had great Korean pancake in Sinchon. Jocelyn, Connie's old friend, was also with us and she's a regular student here at Yonsei University.
There isn't a picture of the pancake, but what we drank while we ate it...
...it's rice wine.......it was pretty good....and there was soooooooo much in that bowl...I don't think we finished it...but I'm not sure.
Oh, and there's no internet at my dorm right now...because we have to set it up and I have no idea how to do it yet... -_-
I have no wireless connections at my place too...so that sucks -_-
LOL. jenny, you need a connector for the internet. and to connect, you probably need a campus VPN thing, but I'm not sure! ddokbokiii is delicious! OH and you could go visit that one house in Korea... you know... uhm, FULL HOUSE! korean drama. I totally did that (before I ever watched the drama).
ReplyDeletePS my friend had banana milk when we were there and loved it.
haha! I got internet now!!!!!!!!! yay! so apparently my dorm building requires a ethernet cable...and then we magically get internet...
ReplyDeletethe cable cost 2,000 won...so it's like $1.50 US?
pretty cheap...
and I probably will but after school starts :] Where is it located?
